The F.D.N.Y. Viking Association is a fraternal organization of the New York City Fire Department. Our membership is composed of active and retired firefighters and friends who are interested in Scandinavian heritage and culture. We meet 5 times per year, usually at a Staten Island location. The meetings start at 7 p.m., with dinner, usually $7, with organizational business being conducted at 8 p.m. Our meetings are informal in nature. Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to children of our members in the name of Captain John J. Drennan and Lieutenant Cecil J. Kent. One additional College Scholarship of $2,500 is awarded by the Olsen/Barry Scholarship Fund in honor of Eric Olsen and Arthur Barry Two Viking members Killed at the WTC on 9/11/2001. Bi-annually, we sponsor the Captain John J. Drennan Medal of Valor to a member of the New York City Fire Department. Annually, we have a boat outing, a golf outing, a Dinner/Dance and participate in the Norwegian Day Parade. We are involved with functions at the Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
